About the Solo Suites
Solo Suite No.1 Op.811a “The Sawtell Suite”
The Solo Suites were originally intended for solo soprano, the solo suites began life on the 26th November, 2024 whilst on holiday in Sawtell, New South Wales, Australia.
Each of the movements were either inspired by my experiences at Sawtell or through the ability to relax and think about the year that was almost over and the completed suite was input into my Dorico notation program on the evening of the 27th.
Solo Suite No.2 Op.811b “Aspects of Reality Suite”
On returning back home to Newcastle, I decided to write another six movement suite to compliment the first I had written in Sawtell. This suite was inspired by a series of words that I chose that represent some of the stages and events that most people have to go through.
Solo Suite No.3 Op.811c “My Life Suite”
Solo Suite No.3 Op.811C was begun on the morning of the 3rd of December and completed on the afternoon of the 4th of December, 2024 and this suite was based on some of the things that are most important in my life.
An Important Note:
Although these solo suites were originally composed for and intended for solo soprano saxophone, they have now been adapted so that they are playable by other woodwind instruments of similar range. Namely, alto and tenor (possibly baritone) saxophones, the A or Bb clarinet and bass clarinet, the oboe and possibly even the cor anglais.
