About Ramona
Ramona is a popular song by composer Mabel Wayne and lyricist Louis Wolfe Gilbert, first published in 1928.
It entered the public domain in 2024 and Ramona was also the first theme song ever written for a movie, an on its release topped over one million sales.
This arrangement of “Ramona” is scored as an old time waltz with the reeds voiced in the style of the “Glenn Miller sound”.
The trumpets are in cup mutes for most of the arrangement and the trombones are in closed position harmony.
This arrangement requires the reed players to have a practiced knowledge of vibrato, blend and balance within the reed section.
This is an essential part of the arrangement for without this, it will not re-create the feel of the music of this period.
The arrangement comes with an optional baritone saxophone part so a clarinet soloist can be added to the standard saxophone section.

Highest Notes: Clarinet: F#4 and G4 (with ossias), Alto sax 1: E3, Trumpet 1: G3, Trombone 1: A3 (and a few Bb3s).
