About Harmon Holiday
Harmon Holiday is a big band arrangement that features the unique and fresh sharp cutting texture of the harmon mute. Scored in tight closed position harmony, this arrangement is great for developing syncronisation within the trumpet section.
The trumpet section is not the only section to get a harmonised workout, as the sax section is also featured.
After a brief written or improvised tenor sax solo all four trumpet players are all given a written solo of four bars each.
A piano solo ensues which is then followed by a harmonised workout, for the sax section. A brief shout chorus which features a call and response between the ensemble and the harmonised muted trumpet section leads to the end of the arrangement.
