Don’t Play with Gunns!-Saxophone Quartet
About Don’t Play with Gunns!-Saxophone Quartet
Level: Advanced.
This piece was inspired by Henry Mancini’s “Theme to Peter Gunn”. “Peter Gunn” was a TV detective series that ran from 1958-6 best remembered for the Emmy and Grammy award theme composed by Mancini. The arrangement offers the players a short written solo and the baritone a groovy bass line throughout. The saxes are voiced in tightly positioned chords supported by the baritone bass line with the occasional solo breaks here and there.
Ranges: All saxes stay between Bb1 and F3. There are few difficult semi-quaver passages and the piece stays at an intermediate to advanced level of technique in the saxophone parts throughout. The first alto saxophone solo is more difficult than the other parts tend to be, however.
“Don’t Play with Gunns!” Is an exciting, powerful, and catchy piece that audiences and the saxophone quartet members enjoy performing!
Scored for 2 alto saxophones, 1 tenor saxophone, and 1 baritone saxophone.
Comes with a score, parts, and full-length performance track.
Parts come as password-locked pdf and the performance track as an mp3 as a zip file.
