About Days of Wind Rain and Sun
Level: Intermediate
Three short pieces for Intermediate level flute that describe each type of day and associated mood.
Each movement of this work depicts a day and the weather associated with it.
The Movements
1. A Windy Day:
The Piano enters as the wind, gently scattering the leaves, making little whirlwinds as it goes. The flute represents the leaves and bits of light debris that gently float and flutter about on the gentle updrafts and currents.
2. A Rainy Day:
The flute represents a child longing to go outside and play and the piano represents the rain. The child’s feelings of disappointment, sadness, and longing are represented by the flute part.
3. A Sunny Day:
The piano sets the scene and mood for this piece right from the first bar. A light but cheery Bossa Nova that represents fun, sun, and good times ahead for all. The flute represents people going about their day enjoying the warm sun and clear skies. Sun, surf, and sandcastles at the beach are all viable options on this warm, glorious day.
