This work pays homage to two of the biggest names in jazz clarinet, namely that of BENNY GOODMAN (movt.1) and ARTIE SHAW (movt.2). The 3rd movement “Beyond” explores the musical styles that were not a part of Benny or Artie’s musical experience or repertoire: Funk, Rock, Be Bop, and other modern jazz styles.
This work requires an advanced grasp and knowledge of jazz clarinet techniques and stylistic nuances.
