Designed for beginner to intermediate-level players, casual clarinetists or hobbyists, the “Sound Like a Pro” series has been devised to give players the opportunity to work with an arranged, full-length song and backing track. The ability to play with a backing track is an essential skill, as it encourages the player to perfect the piece so that they can play along with the prescribed tempo and style of the backing track without getting “lost” or having to stop mid-performance. With practice, this ability has been shown to develop and strengthen a player’s musicality as it creates an awareness of the music that is unfolding under them as play the role of soloist-a vital skill for any musician. Each piece in the series has been carefully crafted so that the pieces are relatively easy to play, but sound polished and professional as well. Also included with each track is a performance of the song (by me) so that the player can hear the tonal nuances and vibrato styles I use to make them sound swinging and sparkling or warm and emotional. This series is NOT designed for players that wish to work with a live pianist or that want to arrange these songs for a band, as the only written part provided is that of the clarinet part. The rest of the music on andyfirthmusic.com comes with the option of backing track or written piano part (some with chord changes), but this series is designed for players that just want to feel like they are playing along with a real band/orchestra.
