Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Composed in the manner of a simplified Baroque fugue designed for student-level players.
1. The main theme. Stated first by the piano and then picked up and developed by the soloist.
2. The theme transforms, develops, and is passed in various forms between the soloist and the piano accompaniment.
3. Theme returns via the soloist before the first section of the work reprises.
4. A short coda leads the work to its dramatic conclusion.
Range: C1 to Ab3
Technical aspects: Semi-quaver scale and arpeggio-based passages of moderate difficulty.
